Ancient Egyptian Ushabti
A fine blue-turquoise faience ushabti figure, depicted mummiform and standing with arms crossed, holding a pair of hoes in relief, and a seed bag suspended over the left shoulder. The face is delicately modelled with serene features and a tripartite wig falling symmetrically over the shoulders. The body is inscribed in horizontal bands of hieroglyphs with portions of the “Shabti Spell” from Chapter 6 of the Book of the Dead, invoking the figure to perform labour for the deceased in the afterlife. The rear pillar continues the modelling of the wig and shoulders, tapering smoothly to a square plinth base. The piece retains traces of the original glaze, with fine craquelure consistent with age and burial.
